Thanksgiving week: in photos. UPDATED!

Jeanne and Loki chillin' out in the crib, oh and Brobee too.

It is so hard to take pictures of these two at the same time.  Thus, I post several in a series.

This is how I really see them.  Instead of thinking of this picture as being out of focus, I prefer to see it as realistic.  The kids never stop moving.

The shirt Jeanne is wearing is the same shirt her father wore as a little boy.  Apparently he was a baby bad ass with the sleeves cut off.

Since Jeanne was having trouble 'holding still' for the photo, I though she would like to sit in mommy's lap.  Guess I was wrong.

"Oh gawd mama, let me GO"!

Every night, Jeanne and daddy make something new and fantastic with their blocks.  This is the best gift evah!  Thanks Memaw and Papaw!

TADA!

Check out how big my tower is!

A modest Thanksgiving dinner, dangit, I forgot the beets!  Pumpkin pie (jar) for Loki.  He had the mashed potatoes too, he lurved them.

What did I do.  Two children?  *Very heavy sigh*

With some good cropping, this photo reminds me much of Grama's photo and Aunt Ginny's house.   You know, besides the kids pictures in the background

A special morning, breakfast in the living room and a movie.  We don't really watch movies.

She had a pretty great morning.

And a walk in the woods on Thanksgiving.  Quite, calm, cool, serene, awesome.

We walk on path that has the names of the trees labeled.  We touch the bark and compare the texture, the leaves and the height of the trees.  This one was 'super tall'.

That little sliver of blue on my back is Loki.  If you look closely you can see his hood pulled over his head.  He was napping.
Bliss

She walked over a mile and a half, she earned some rest on Daddy's back.

I see you peeking at me.

(Shh, she's asleep).

Just kidding!

Daddy got lots of super hugs and kisses the Thanksgiving morning.  Must have been the great breakfast and all the freedom in the morning!

A little snuggle time after her nap with Mommy.   I'm lying down, that was a big treat in itself!

Thanksgiving

I am thankful that we are each healthy, and in our ability to find happiness everyday.

Thank you dear Husband for getting through this very tough year with me.

Jeanne, thank you for surprising me everyday.  You are such an intelligent, funny and amazing little girl.  I am proud of how you are handling your second year of life, I see it can be difficult.  Great job Jeanne!

Loki, thank you for getting out of the hospital when you did.  Your time there hurt all of us, yourself included and we needed a bit of time to repair the damage.  But, now dear son, now you are a bubbling, happy, baby boy and I love to hold you and watch your smile pop from your face.  You've done really well with your sister pushing you around, please forgive her, the second year of life seems tough.  You'll see soon enough.

Mom (Grandma Barb), thank you for all the times you've come over for lunch, thank you for playing with Jeanne and her dolls for hours each weekend.  Thank you moving here to be closer to all of us, it means a lot to all of us that you are such a part of our lives.

Memaw and Papaw, thank you for putting all those miles on your car for some intense playtime with your grandchildren.  They both love you so.

To my family up North, we miss you.  We are grateful for the times we are able to catch up via skype or facetime.  When I think of each of you, I think of food, can you guess who you are?

Homemade pumpkin pie with whip cream, savory gravy, a great glass of wine, a bowl full of pistachios, a perfectly placed dinner table, an extra large serving of mashed potatoes, a glob of butter, a small piece of fruit only half eaten, cranberry sauce, and a plate of cheese and crackers.

I love food, and I love my family, both near and far.

Early Thanksgiving

We decided to have Thanksgiving dinner a day earlier since it would only be two adults eating, and I had already reserved our turkey breast.  This would give us another day to eat leftovers before Hubbers had to travel again.

The Turkey has been in my large crock pot since 6:30 and I thinks its done!  I only added some orange juice and some seasoning salt.  Reviews for crock pot turkey are amazing, so I'm really hoping they are all true.  My small crock pot has a pound of Snowcap beans from Rancho Gordo for us to eat for breakfast.  If you're not eating beans for breakfast, you don't know what your missing.  Jeanne ate an adult serving of garlicky Christmas Lima beans last night.  I'm telling you, these beans are the BOMB.

We will also have mashed potatoes, green beans, beets, homemade pumpkin bread and homemade rosemary rolls.  For dessert, we'll have pumpkin pie and raspberry ice cream.  Oh yum.

I misunderstood when my mother was flying North for Thanksgiving, and it seems she will be joining us for dinner tonight, so I get to have Thanksgiving with my mom. Yea!
